Paper planes, biotech and artificial intelligence – science takes flight at the Exhibition
Paper plane throwing competition and folding workshops, destination? the sky!
Watch out, gravity: the skies will be filled with daring flights from children up to 15 years old. It all begins with a paper plane folding workshop to master the subtle art of aerodynamic origami. From classic models to wild creations, participants will experiment with shapes and angles… before taking to the air.
– From 2 to 5 p.m., it’s time for the big throwing competition: whether it’s precision or distance, all talents are welcome to make their aircraft soar as far or as accurately as possible. Prizes will be awarded to the boldest pilots.
For curious young minds – a flurry of workshops from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
No sitting still today – all day long, kids will be creating, testing and building at the Fair.
– Solar Workshop (ages 7–10): Build your own mobile object powered only by the energy of the sun.
– Addictlab Workshops
• Robotics and Environment: Program a LEGO robot to save the oceans.
• Mechanical and Computing: Discover logic with the Turing Tumble.
• Heritage and Innovation: Explore yesterday’s inventions to create a better tomorrow.
All activities are free on registration.
– Sciencescope: The science outreach centre from the University of Geneva offers workshops on Earth and life sciences, astronomy and anthropology.
– Fab Lab Onl’fait: 3D printing and modelling in action, with live demonstrations of a tool that converts polar coordinates into digital data.
– Design Your Future: Playful workshops for ages 6 to 12, combining storytelling, graphic design and new technologies to help children gain confidence and take ownership of their ideas.
Swiss Pavilion
At the Swiss pavilion, the Campus Biotech Geneva Foundation and the EPFL Science Promotion Service will be showcasing their activities.
– At 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., CERN will perform a show blending physics and poetry – accessible from age 10 and not to be missed!
– At 2 p.m., a talk titled Is artificial intelligence capable of generating innovation? will address questions around legality, regulation, ethics, morality and profitability in the use of AI tools.
