Salon International des Inventions de Genève

Top picks for

Wednesday 9 April

A first day packed with highlights at the International Exhibition of Inventions!

Swiss innovation pavilion

This year’s major new addition? The unmissable Swiss innovation pavilion!

Two standout events will set the tone for five days of creativity and discovery:

At 11:30 a.m. and again at 1:30 p.m., a captivating science show by CERN follows two particle physicists on a quest to track down missing chemical elements. Intrigue, science, and a touch of theatrical flair await!

Later in the day, the pavilion hosts an English-language talk tackling another big question: why does Switzerland consistently top global innovation rankings?
Join us from 3 to 4 p.m. to uncover the secrets of Swiss success.

ESA – Philippe Sebirot

From Space to Earth

Buckle up! The European Space Agency (ESA) takes us on a journey beyond the stratosphere. At 2:30 p.m., astronaut Jean-François Clervoy will share (in English) what it is really like to work in space.

Then at 3:30 p.m., still in English, we gently return to Earth to discover that Switzerland is a major player in the space game. Catch both events at the ESA stand.

Workshops for the young (and curious!)

Kids aged 15 and under are in for a treat – with hands-on activities and fun experiments all day long!

Fab Lab Onl’fait (1 p.m. – 6 p.m.)
Live demos of 3D printing, modelling and scanning. Machines are whirring, ideas are flying!

Scienscope – University of Geneva (9:30 a.m. – 6 p.m.)
Interactive scientific workshops for every budding researcher:

  • Anthroposcope: exploring humanity under the microscope
  • Astroscope: a real look at the stars (no horoscopes here!)
  • Pharmascope: the science behind medicine
